Friendly Faces, Helping HandsNCJW New York Section volunteers remember the often-forgotten residents of long-term care facilities: AIDS Friendly Visitor Program volunteers host monthly birthday parties and holiday celebrations for AIDS patients at Goldwater Memorial Hospital. Jewish Home and Hospital Volunteer Service volunteers welcome new residents to the Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged on the Upper West Side; they also lead current events discussions and other social activities to improve the quality of life for participants in the day center. KnitWits volunteers create hand-knitted toys, sweaters, and other gifts for distribution to babies, children, and adults living in hospitals and residential facilities. Roosevelt Island Services volunteers link Jewish patients in the long-term care facilities of Goldwater Memorial Hospital to the outside community with Shabbat Services and holiday celebrations.
