Karla Ignacio
Karla is the Hunger Program Coordinator and Caseworker at NCJWNY. Raised in the Dominican Republic, her work is influenced by the inequalities she experienced growing up, which led her to do food drives at an early age. She has been working in food justice in New York for over five years, working with organizations like Swipe Out Hunger, the CUNY Food Security Advocates Project, POTS, Young Invincibles, and SingleStop. She currently serves as a research assistant at the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute. Passionate about social justice and exploring intersections of race, gender, and food access, Karla holds a B.A in Sociology from Lehman College.
