Nancy Brown

Dr. Nancy Brown has been an educator for more than forty years, earning her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan. She retired in 2020 as the Dean of Education and Full Professor from the State University of New York College at Old Westbury, where she championed educational equity. Prior to her position in New York, Dr. Brown served as a professor and Associate Dean of the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She has dedicated her professional life to making the world a better place (Tikkun Olam) through providing educational opportunities for all. Currently, she is treasurer of Sutton Place Parks Conservancy and teaches grant writing to Non-profit organizations. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dr. Brown and her husband recently returned to New York City after living in several parts of the country, including 28 years in Michigan. She is the mother of two wonderful daughters and grandmother of one adorable grandchild. Dr. Brown loves to travel, read, knit, and follow contemporary artists.
