Community Kitchen
In operation since 1983, NCJW NY’s Community Kitchen serves a hot meal, freshly prepared in our own kitchen, to individuals and families in need. The kitchen serves meals twice a week, on Sundays at 11:30 am, and on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm. Guests are welcomed inside to choose their own seats at small tables in our ground floor café space. They are served a three-course meal by our volunteer team – first a homemade soup, followed by an entrée plate of a protein (such as baked chicken or fish) and two side dishes (such as rice and roasted or steamed veggies), all followed by dessert and hot, freshly-brewed coffee. If guests are unable to stay, they have the option of taking a hot meal to-go.
Our chef strives to make meals tasty and appealing, and our volunteers work to serve our clients as if they were guests in their own homes. The community kitchen serves approximately 50 guests each sitting, and guests may come and eat as often as they like with no registration required.
