Food Pantry
Since 1984, NCJW NY has operated our weekly Food Pantry every Monday, providing a three-day emergency supply of groceries to families in need. We provide fresh produce and dairy items along with non-perishable staples like rice, beans, canned tuna and peanut butter. Our Food Pantry serves approximately 300 families each week. Some clients may come just once in an emergency situation, and others may come every month as they struggle with long term food insecurity. All are welcomed as friends and neighbors, in their own language.
Our Food Pantry offers client choice in foods using a “table-top shopping” model. Our volunteers staff tables featuring choices of fresh produce, canned fruits and vegetables, proteins, dairy, and grains. Clients choose foods according to their own tastes, culture, and dietary needs and/or restrictions. Each client can select a quantity of food based on their verified family size.
