Julie Kay
Julie is well-known as a litigator and a voice for using law to promote abortion rights and gender equity in the US and internationally. She is Founder and CEO of Reproductive Futures, the legal frontline of reproductive health care working to make telemedicine abortion, emergency room and post-abortion care safe and legal throughout the US.
Julie is the co-author with Kathryn Kolbert of “Controlling Women: What We Must Do Now to Save Reproductive Freedom.” She was the lead attorney who designed and litigated the landmark abortion rights case, ABC v. Ireland, before the European Court of Human Rights — a case which helped lay the groundwork for legalization of abortion in Ireland. Julie began her legal career at the Center for Reproductive Rights, served at the Ms. Foundation for Women, and was the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine (ACT).
Julie holds a BA with honors in Women’s Studies and Social Studies from Harvard University, and a JD with honors from Brooklyn Law School.
