Here are some ways to make a planned gift to NCJW NY:
Gifts from Retirement Plans (outside of a Will or Trust)
During Your Lifetime
A very easy way to make a planned gift to NCJW NY is through your retirement plan(s).
How
If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can direct up to $108,000 each year to charity using a QCD (Qualified Charitable Distribution). Your financial advisor can help you with the paperwork.
Key Benefit
If you are 73 ½ or older, your QCD gift counts against your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), lowering your taxable income even if you don’t itemize deductions.
Legacy Gifts
You can make a charitable gift upon your death by naming NCJW NY as the beneficiary of a retirement account, life insurance policy, bank account, brokerage account, or Donor Advised Fund.
How
For retirement funds: Use the beneficiary designation form to name NCJW NY as a “full beneficiary”, a “partial beneficiary” along with individuals, or as “contingent beneficiary,” which goes into effect if the individuals you name do not survive you.
Key Benefit
Unlike an individual beneficiary, non-profits don’t pay income tax on retirement distributions, so NCJW NY will get the full amount of the gift.
For Bank or Brokerage Accounts: Designate as POD (Pay on Death) or TOD (Transfer on Death) to NCJW NY.
Gifts by Will or Trust
A bequest is simply a gift made through your will or revocable living trust (RLT). It’s a thoughtful way to make a meaningful statement about the values you held during your lifetime. You might choose to make a bequest as a specific dollar amount or as a percentage of your estate.
How
Include a bequest in your will or revocable living trust (RLT).
Key Benefit
Protect your assets and income during your lifetime, while providing for a meaningful, lasting gift for NCJW NY.
